The
Acting Director-General of Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority, Divine Selase
Agbeti, has underscored the need to view national cybersecurity as a governance
responsibility rather than a purely technical function.
In
a statement on his LinkedIn social media platfor, Mr. Agbeti said effective
cybersecurity requires strong coordination across institutions, clear policy
direction and long-term national planning. He noted that as Ghana’s digital
services and systems continue to expand, decisions taken by leadership today will
have a direct impact on public trust, system resilience and overall national
security.
He
stressed the importance of aligning digital systems and operational processes
with national cybersecurity guidelines, adding that compliance across
institutions is critical to strengthening the country’s cyber posture.
Mr.
Agbeti also called on senior leadership within public and private institutions
to elevate cybersecurity to the level of core governance, rather than
relegating it solely to information technology departments, as part of efforts
to safeguard Ghana’s digital future.
