A
coordination meeting has been held in Egypt with four of the country’s leading
national research centers and the Egyptian Meteorological Authority to advance
the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (NAP). The meeting was attended by
H.E. Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of
Environment, UNDP Resident Representative Chitose Noguchi, and senior leaders
from national research institutions and relevant entities.

Discussions
emphasized the importance of grounding climate policy in robust scientific
research, highlighting the role of research centers in assessing climate risks,
translating data into actionable adaptation strategies, and supporting
evidence-based decision-making across sectors.

UNDP
reaffirmed its commitment to assisting Egypt in moving from climate risk
assessment to the implementation of practical adaptation solutions. The agency
aims to strengthen the country’s climate resilience and ensure that the NAP is
translated into bankable projects that support national development objectives.
