The
leadership of MTN Group has paid a courtesy visit to the Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) Head Office in Abuja, where they were received by the Governor of
the CBN, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso.

The
visit, which took place on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, was led by the Group
President and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Group, Mr. Ralph Mupita, alongside
the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Karl Toriola. The engagement
provided an opportunity for discussions between the telecommunications group
and Nigeria’s apex bank on matters of mutual interest within the financial and
digital ecosystem.

Senior
officials present from the Central Bank of Nigeria included the Director of the
Banking Supervision Department, Dr. Olubukola Akinwunmi, and the Director of
the Payment Systems Supervision Department, Dr. Rakiya Yusuf. MTN executives at
the meeting included Group Executive Leadership Jerry Varachia, MTN Nigeria’s
Corporate Services and Sustainability lead Tobechukwu Okigbo, and Senior
Corporate and Regulatory Executive Anas Galadima.

The
meeting underscored ongoing engagement between the financial services regulator
and the telecommunications sector as digital financial services and
mobile-enabled platforms continue to play an expanding role in Nigeria’s
economy.
