The
Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen
Bogdan-Martin, has received the Geneva Engage AI Leadership Award, presented by
DiploFoundation, in recognition of her leadership in advancing inclusive and
collaborative approaches to artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
The
award acknowledges Ms. Bogdan-Martin’s efforts in promoting international
cooperation and practical, results-oriented solutions that translate digital
innovation into tangible societal impact. Under her leadership, the ITU has
continued to play a central role in shaping global dialogue on emerging
technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, with a strong emphasis on
inclusivity, capacity building, and sustainable development.

Presenting
the award, DiploFoundation highlighted the importance of multistakeholder
engagement in addressing the opportunities and challenges associated with AI.
The recognition also underscored Geneva’s continued role as a unique global hub
for convening governments, international organisations, the private sector,
academia, and civil society around digital policy and governance issues.
The
award ceremony reaffirmed the value of international collaboration in ensuring
that AI and other digital technologies are developed and deployed in ways that
deliver real-world benefits and support equitable digital development
worldwide.
