Airbus Defence and Space and ST Engineering have signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the Space Summit held on the sidelines of the Singapore Airshow 2026, reinforcing their strategic collaboration in advanced satellite systems and digital solutions.

The first MoU formalises cooperation between the two companies to explore a joint partnership focused on the development of a new satellite imaging concept based on multi-static Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology. Under the proposed arrangement, ST Engineering would develop companion satellites to operate alongside the PAZ-2 satellite manufactured by Airbus, while both parties would jointly explore the commercialisation of the resulting service.

The multi-static, or “3D SAR,” concept involves one satellite transmitting radar signals while multiple companion satellites receive the signals from different angles. By integrating these multiple perspectives, the system is expected to generate more detailed, accurate and reliable three-dimensional models of the Earth’s surface, enhancing capabilities for Earth observation and geospatial analysis.

The second MoU focuses on the joint development of a Generative Artificial Intelligence system designed for advanced satellite imagery analysis. By applying cutting-edge AI techniques to geospatial data, the collaboration aims to improve object detection, change monitoring and automated reporting, enabling faster and more precise insights for decision-makers across a range of applications.

Together, the two agreements mark a significant step forward in Airbus and ST Engineering’s efforts to combine satellite engineering expertise with advanced digital technologies, positioning both companies to address growing global demand for high-performance Earth observation and data-driven solutions.
