The Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation, Mark-Alexandre Doumba has paid a working visit to the Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and Observations (AGEOS) as part of government efforts to strengthen the country’s digital and informational sovereignty.

During the visit, the Minister held discussions with the agency’s management and technical teams on AGEOS’s strategic mandate and its central role in the production and use of geospatial and satellite data. Exchanges focused on ongoing projects supporting national priorities in planning, security, land management and sustainable development.

Mr Doumba reviewed the progress of key initiatives, examined operational challenges and assessed the agency’s technical and institutional needs. He commended the professionalism and commitment of the AGEOS teams and emphasized the importance of effective data governance and stronger integration of digital and spatial tools in public administration.

The visit aligns with the government’s broader vision of placing data at the core of decision-making and public policy, with a view to enhancing evidence-based governance and national development outcomes.

AGEOS is a public institution operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation. Its mandate includes the collection, analysis and exploitation of geospatial and satellite data to support territorial planning, natural resource management, risk prevention and informed public decision-making across Gabon.
