Rwanda has reaffirmed its commitment to politically championed regional infrastructure as a key driver of Africa’s digital and economic transformation during the Virtual African Union Presidential Infrastructure Championing Initiative (PICI) meeting.

The country was represented by the Minister of Infrastructure, Dr. Jimmy Gasore, on behalf of President Paul Kagame. The engagement brought together African leaders and stakeholders to review progress and reinforce high-level political support for strategic cross-border infrastructure projects across the continent.

During the meeting, Rwanda highlighted its flagship contribution under the PICI framework, the East African Community (EAC) ICT Broadband Project, which is championed by President Kagame. The project is aimed at expanding affordable, reliable, and seamless digital connectivity across East Africa, strengthening regional integration and supporting inclusive economic growth.
