The
Government of Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the country’s
digital transformation agenda through strengthened collaboration with
development partners, following high-level discussions with the World Bank.
Cabinet
Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Hon. William
Kabogo Gitau, met a World Bank delegation led by Qimiao Fan, World Bank
Division Director for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda, to review progress on
the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP) and align on next steps.

building and economic growth, as well as the implementation status of ongoing

improving digital literacy, increasing last-mile connectivity, and
strengthening regional digital infrastructure and data governance.
The
meeting also addressed the Government’s strategic policy priorities for digital
transformation and explored pathways to accelerate the delivery of KDEAP
projects in line with national development objectives.

Also
in attendance were Principal Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John
Kipchumba Tanui, CBS; World Bank Digital Development Practice Manager for
Africa and the Middle East, Michel Rogy; World Bank Senior Digital Specialist,
Aneliya Muller; World Bank Lead Digital Development Specialist, Dr. Tim Kelly;
Acting ICT Authority Chief Executive Officer, Zilpher Owiti; and other senior
government and World Bank officials.
