Members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives’ Preferred Women’s Caucus have participated in an awareness forum focused on the core pillars and inclusive approach of the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy.

The forum was organised by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology in collaboration with the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, Employment and Technology Affairs of the House of Peoples’ Representatives. It aimed to deepen lawmakers’ understanding of the national digital transformation agenda and the role of inclusion in achieving its objectives.

Delivering the opening address, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives and Ombudsman of the House, Hon. Ms. Lime Bedo, underscored the importance of the digital technology sector in supporting the country’s drive toward universal prosperity and socio-economic transformation.

The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Bete Mola, emphasised that effective understanding and management of the digital sector are critical to strengthening Ethiopia’s digital economy, modernising public services, and driving sustainable growth. He noted that the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy builds on the foundations of Digital Ethiopia 2025, addressing existing gaps while enhancing national capacity to keep pace with global economic and technological developments.

Dr. Bete Mola highlighted the central role of women in the successful implementation of the digital strategy, stressing that meaningful participation by women is essential to achieving inclusive economic growth. He added that the digital sector holds significant potential to improve citizens’ livelihoods and called on all stakeholders to contribute to building national capacity in digital technologies for broad-based economic benefits.

Members of the Women’s Caucus welcomed the engagement and stressed the importance of continued awareness and capacity-building forums. They noted that sustained dialogue and knowledge-sharing would be critical to extending understanding of the digital strategy to communities across the country and ensuring its effective implementation.
