The
Cabinet of the Federal Government of Somalia has formally approved the National
Postal Policy of Somalia for the period 2025–2030, marking a major step in the
modernization of the country’s postal sector.
The
newly approved policy establishes a clear strategic and regulatory framework
aimed at transforming postal services to meet contemporary national and
international standards. It is designed to strengthen domestic and cross-border
connectivity while positioning the postal sector as a key enabler of Somalia’s
digital transformation and economic development agenda.

By
setting out priorities for institutional reform, service modernization and
market development, the policy seeks to rebuild a sustainable, inclusive and
efficient postal system capable of serving citizens, businesses and
international partners. It also supports improved integration of postal
services with emerging digital platforms and logistics networks.

The
Cabinet’s approval represents a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to
restore public infrastructure and expand access to essential services across
Somalia. Implementation of the National Postal Policy is expected to enhance
service delivery, promote private sector participation, and reinforce Somalia’s
engagement in regional and global postal networks over the next five years.
