The
Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation, Mr. Mark Alexandre
Doumba has conducted an official visit to the Gabonese Agency for Space Studies
and Observations (AGEOS) to assess the agency’s infrastructure, technical
capabilities, and strategic contributions to the country’s digital agenda.

Welcomed
by AGEOS Director General, Dr. Aboubakar Mambimba Ndjoungui and his team, the
Minister toured the agency’s technological facilities, recognized as among the
most advanced in the sub-region. The delegation reviewed satellite reception
systems, specialized applications, and locally developed platforms, gaining
insight into AGEOS’s operational expertise and scientific capacity.
Technical
presentations highlighted the agency’s role in leveraging geoservices and earth
observation data for climate change monitoring, sustainable development,
territorial planning, natural resource management, security, and the digital
transformation of government operations.

The
visit concluded with a discussion between the Minister, his cabinet, and AGEOS
management on the agency’s strategic challenges, capacity-building prospects,
and its central role in implementing national public policies.
The
government reaffirmed its commitment to advancing space science and
technological innovation as key drivers of digital sovereignty, modernized
public service, and sustainable development in Gabon.
