The
Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has launched its Five-Year
Strategic Plan, setting out a comprehensive framework to guide Namibia’s
digital transformation agenda from 2025 to 2030.
The
plan was officially launched in Opuwo, Kunene Region, by the Minister of
Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus. It outlines the
Ministry’s strategic priorities across five core pillars aimed at strengthening
the country’s digital ecosystem. These pillars focus on the expansion of
digital infrastructure, the promotion of innovation and digital skills
development, improved efficiency in service delivery, the strengthening of
policies and legislative frameworks, and enhanced public access to information.
Speaking
at the launch, Minister Theofelus said the strategic plan will serve as a
critical roadmap in advancing the ICT, media and film industries, while
supporting broader national development objectives. She noted that the
framework is designed to align the Ministry’s programmes and interventions with
Namibia’s long-term socio-economic goals.
The
Minister emphasized that the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan clearly defines the
Ministry’s strategic intent and commitment to supporting national development
initiatives through technology, innovation and improved access to information.
The
Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the plan in collaboration
with key stakeholders, as part of efforts to accelerate digital transformation
and ensure inclusive growth across Namibia.
