Gabon observed the International Data Privacy Day 2026 with a high-level meeting
held at the ANINF Tower, bringing together government representatives and key
stakeholders from the digital ecosystem. The event was organised by the
Authority for the Protection of Personal Data and Private Life (APDPVP) under the
theme “Digital economy and protection of personal data in Gabon: challenges and
perspectives.”

The
meeting focused on national priorities around data governance, digital trust
and the role of secure digital systems in supporting Gabon’s growing digital
economy. Discussions highlighted the importance of aligning infrastructure
development, regulatory frameworks and institutional capacity to ensure the
protection of personal data while enabling innovation and economic growth.
During
the event, the Director General of the National Agency for Digital
Infrastructures and Frequencies (ANINF), Alberto Wenceslas Mounguengui Moudoki,
delivered a presentation on “Digital infrastructure and government vision:
role of ANINF in Gabon’s digital transformation.” He outlined ANINF’s
mandate in deploying strategic digital infrastructure and its contribution to
supporting the State’s vision for a secure, resilient and trusted digital
transformation.

The
Data Privacy Day engagement underscored Gabon’s commitment to strengthening
data protection practices as a foundation for digital trust and sustainable
development within the national digital economy.
