AXIAN Telecom has held high-level discussions with the Government of Zanzibar aimed at strengthening partnerships to advance the archipelago’s digital transformation agenda and position it as a regional ICT hub.

The engagement took place during a courtesy visit by the Minister for Communication, Information, Technology, and Innovation of Zanzibar, Hon. Mudrick Soragha, to the Yas headquarters in Dar es Salaam. The visit provided an opportunity for dialogue between Yas, government officials and national institutions on potential areas of collaboration.

Discussions focused on expanding affordable fixed broadband access, developing data centre infrastructure and enhancing international connectivity to support Zanzibar’s long-term digital ambitions. The talks also explored how improved digital infrastructure can contribute to economic development, education, delivery of digital services, local employment and the growth of the wider digital ecosystem.

AXIAN Telecom reiterated its commitment to being a trusted, long-term partner to governments across the region, supporting national digital transformation agendas through sustainable investment and resilient, secure infrastructure.

Both parties expressed a shared vision of positioning Zanzibar as a leading ICT hub that connects mainland East Africa with the Western Indian Ocean region, including Comoros, Madagascar and Seychelles, and agreed to continue engagement aimed at translating discussions into concrete collaboration.
