The
National Geological Survey of Senegal (SGNS) has participated in the Future
Minerals Forum (FMF) 2026, held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference
Centre in Riyadh. Representing the SGNS, Mr. Alla Diaw, Director of SGNS
Laboratories, attended the forum and the associated meeting of geological
surveys, following the absence of the agency’s Director General.
The
FMF, a leading international mining event, convened thousands of participants
to discuss strategic minerals, sustainable mining practices, financing for the
sector, and the role of minerals in the global energy transition and digital
revolution. Launched by the Saudi government in 2022, the forum serves as a
platform for dialogue among public officials, industry leaders, multilateral
organizations, NGOs, academics, and geological agencies.
SGNS’s
participation aligns with Senegal’s efforts to strengthen technical and
financial partnerships, share expertise, and enhance bilateral and multilateral
cooperation. The engagement also aims to improve sector governance and
stimulate investment in Senegal’s mining industry.
