The
Commissioner for the African Union’s Department of Economic Development, Trade,
Tourism, Industry, and Minerals (ETTIM) received a delegation from huawei, led
by the company’s Managing Director for East Africa, Mr. Liu Jifan, to discuss
enhanced collaboration in support of Africa’s development agenda.

During
the meeting, Huawei presented its regional operations and reiterated its
commitment to supporting the implementation of Agenda 2063, aligning with the
priorities of the ETTIM Department. The Commissioner acknowledged China’s
continued engagement with Africa and highlighted Huawei’s role in advancing
technological solutions to drive economic growth across the continent.
Emphasizing
the importance of technology in economic development, the Commissioner noted
its potential to deliver meaningful outcomes for women and youth, while
strengthening Africa’s position in global technology leadership.

Both
parties expressed their intent to deepen collaboration, ensuring joint
initiatives align with the ETTIM Department’s mandate and the broader
objectives of Agenda 2063.
