Algeria
will host Global Africa Tech 2026, a major continental forum on communications
and technology, from 28 to 30 March 2026 at the International Conference Center
in Algiers. The event will be held under the high patronage of President
Abdelmadjid Tebboune and is being positioned as the first Africa-wide gathering
of its kind focused on the convergence of communications networks.
Announcing
the event, Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki said the
forum will be held under the theme “All Networks, One Convergence,” reflecting
a shared vision of a digitally unified Africa. The theme emphasizes the
integration of terrestrial, space and maritime networks to support the
development of a modern, secure and sustainable communications ecosystem across
the continent.
Global
Africa Tech 2026 is expected to serve as a platform for policymakers, industry
leaders and technology experts from Africa and beyond to exchange ideas on
strengthening terrestrial infrastructure, expanding fiber optic networks,
advancing space and aerial communications initiatives, deploying submarine
cable systems, connecting smart ports and enhancing continental connectivity.
Organised
by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in collaboration with Algeria
Telecom, the forum is projected to attract more than 5,000 participants from 45
countries. The event will also bring together around 50 ministers and senior
decision-makers, alongside representatives of global technology companies and
leading experts in the telecommunications and technology sectors.
The
organisers say the forum aims to foster collaboration, investment and
innovation, reinforcing Africa’s position in the global digital economy and
supporting long-term, inclusive digital transformation across the continent.
