The
Sultanate of Oman has officially become the 61st signatory to the Artemis
Accords, marking a significant step in its engagement with international space
cooperation and governance.
The
signing ceremony underscored the growing emphasis on collaborative and
responsible space exploration. A formal message from the Administrator of the
United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) highlighted
the importance of international partnerships in advancing peaceful activities
beyond Earth. The agreement was signed on stage in the presence of the United
States Ambassador to Oman, symbolising Oman’s commitment to the principles of
transparency, sustainability and cooperation in outer space.

By
joining the Artemis Accords, Oman aligns itself with a global framework that
promotes the peaceful use of space, responsible exploration, and the sharing of
scientific data. The move is consistent with the objectives of Oman Vision
2040, which prioritises innovation, advanced technology and international
collaboration as drivers of national development.
Oman’s
accession sends a clear signal of its intent to play an active role in shaping
the global space agenda, moving beyond observation to direct participation in
the governance and future of space exploration.
