The fourth edition of the Green Caravan of the Young People of the Great Green Wall (CVJ-GMV) was officially launched in Niger, marking the start of activities scheduled to run until February 1, 2026.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission Climat pour la Région du Sahel (CCRS), His Excellency Mr. Issifi Boureima, participated in the opening ceremony, underscoring the Commission’s continued commitment to climate resilience and youth engagement in the Sahel region.

The ceremony was chaired by Niger’s Minister of Environment, Colonel Maizama Abdoulaye, and brought together members of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP), the Executive Secretary of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall (ANGMV), Mr. Almoustapha Garba, as well as representatives of international organizations accredited to Niger.

The Green Caravan initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness, youth participation, and regional cooperation in support of the Great Green Wall programme, which aims to combat desertification and address the impacts of climate change across the Sahel.
