The
fourth edition of the Green Caravan of the Young People of the Great Green Wall
(CVJ-GMV) was officially launched in Niger, marking the start of activities
scheduled to run until February 1, 2026.
The
Executive Secretary of the Commission Climat pour la Région du Sahel (CCRS),
His Excellency Mr. Issifi Boureima, participated in the opening ceremony,
underscoring the Commission’s continued commitment to climate resilience and
youth engagement in the Sahel region.

The
ceremony was chaired by Niger’s Minister of Environment, Colonel Maizama
Abdoulaye, and brought together members of the National Council for the
Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP), the Executive Secretary of the National
Agency of the Great Green Wall (ANGMV), Mr. Almoustapha Garba, as well as
representatives of international organizations accredited to Niger.
The
Green Caravan initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental
awareness, youth participation, and regional cooperation in support of the
Great Green Wall programme, which aims to combat desertification and address
the impacts of climate change across the Sahel.
