The
Netherlands Embassy in Ghana, led by Ambassador Jeroen Verheul has participated
in the official launch of the Green, Digital and Inclusive Private Sector
Development (GDI PSD) Programme at the European Union Ambassador’s Residence in
Accra.
The
four-year initiative, a EUR 17.3 million Team Europe programme co-financed by
the European Union, the Netherlands, and France, is implemented under the
auspices of Ghana’s Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MOTAI) and
executed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Expertise France (EF), and
the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).

The
programme aims to accelerate Ghana’s private sector transformation by improving
access to green and digital finance, strengthening the business and regulatory
environment, and building the capacity of entrepreneurs to adopt and scale
sustainable solutions.
The
launch brought together around 100 participants from government, financial
institutions, entrepreneurship support organizations, and the private sector to
discuss strategies for a strong ecosystem to drive sustainable economic growth.
The event also celebrated the graduation of 16 entrepreneurs from Orange
Corners Ghana Cohort 11, whose businesses exemplify the innovation the
programme seeks to foster.

The
Netherlands’ contribution of EUR 2.5 million will focus on access to finance
for early-stage businesses, green innovation, digital financial solutions, and
youth entrepreneurship, including the expansion of Orange Corners to Tamale and
Kumasi.
Strong
collaboration between government, development partners, and entrepreneurs is
central to achieving the programme’s goals, with GDI PSD positioned as a key
step toward sustainable and inclusive private sector growth in Ghana.
