The Special Envoy on Technology to the President of the Republic of Kenya, Ambassador Philip Thigo has shared insights at the Symposium on Reshaping India–Kenya Cooperation in the 21st Century, highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a strategic infrastructure for both nations.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Thigo emphasized the need to move beyond pilot programs toward full-scale deployment, capability development, and real-world impact. He outlined a vision for collaboration anchored on people, sustainable technology, and measurable outcomes, noting the importance of building a “full AI stack” that integrates trusted data, reliable computing resources, skilled talent, and high-impact applications, including innovations in food systems and multimodal, multilingual AI.

Amid increasing global challenges, Ambassador Thigo called for a reformed and reinvigorated multilateral framework for the AI era, stressing that such systems must prioritize sovereignty, interoperability, and ethical, impact-driven outcomes that deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

The symposium provided a platform for forward-looking dialogue on strengthening India–Kenya ties through technology, positioning both countries to leverage AI for economic growth, social development, and regional influence. Ambassador Thigo expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants for fostering a rich and forward-looking exchange of ideas.
