President
John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has joined leading African and global figures in
Davos as the Accra Reset agenda takes centre stage on the margins of the 2026
World Economic Forum (WEF), reinforcing Africa’s push for greater influence in
shaping global solutions.
The
event, known as The Davos Convening, was co-hosted by Joyce Bawah Mogtari,
Presidential Adviser and Special Aide to President Mahama, alongside former
Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The
Accra Reset, which was formally launched at the United Nations General Assembly
last year, has gained significant traction as a platform for African-led
approaches to addressing the continent’s economic, political, and development
priorities. The initiative seeks to reposition Africa and the Global South as
active contributors to global problem-solving rather than passive recipients of
external solutions.

At
the Davos Convening, President Mahama and other African leaders will also engage
with international policymakers, business executives, and development partners
to strengthen strategic partnerships and drive implementation of the Accra
Reset agenda. Discussions are expected to focus on expanding Africa’s convening
power, mobilising investment, and aligning global cooperation with Africa’s
long-term development ambitions.
The
participation of President Mahama at WEF 2026 underscores Ghana’s commitment to
continental leadership and multilateral engagement at a time when global
economic and geopolitical dynamics are rapidly evolving. It also highlights
Africa’s determination to assert a stronger voice in global decision-making
forums.
With
global attention firmly on Davos, the Accra Reset is emerging as a unifying
framework for Africa’s engagement with the world, signalling a renewed
confidence in the continent’s capacity to shape its own future and contribute
meaningfully to global progress.
