Telkom
Group is participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos,
Switzerland, with its leadership engaging global decision-makers on the role of
technology, digital infrastructure and sustainability in shaping resilient
economies.
The
company’s Chief Executive Officer, Serame Taukobong, joined world leaders from
government, business and international institutions for high-level discussions
focused on accelerating digital transformation, responsible adoption of
artificial intelligence and long-term sustainable growth. His participation
reflects Telkom Group’s commitment to positioning South Africa as an active
contributor to global technology and economic conversations.

Speaking
on the sidelines of the forum, Mpho Lethoko, Group Chief of Corporate Affairs
at Telkom Group, noted that this year’s WEF theme, “Spirit of Dialogue,”
highlights the urgent shift from ambition to execution. He said digital
transformation, AI and sustainability are no longer future goals but core
capabilities that must be deliberately built, governed and scaled.
Lethoko
also participated in the Chief Sustainability Officer’s roundtable, where
sustainability was framed as a strategic lever for financial performance and
long-term value creation, rather than a compliance obligation. Discussions
underscored that organisations embedding sustainability into their core
strategies are better positioned for resilience, growth and investor
confidence.
According
to Telkom Group, engagements at WEF 2026 are critical for shaping investor
perceptions, influencing policy direction and strengthening long-term
partnerships for South Africa. The company said its presence at Davos, led by
Taukobong, reinforces a national narrative centred on credibility, capability
and delivery.

Throughout
the forum, Telkom Group has consistently emphasized that reliable connectivity
and robust digital infrastructure are foundational to economic resilience,
competitiveness and inclusive development, as global leaders intensify
collaboration on technology-led solutions.
