The
African Telecommunications Union (ATU) has stepped up preparations for the
Africa Digital Transformation Summit 2026 following a high-level engagement on
the sidelines of the Algeria Optical Summit 2026.
ATU
Secretary-General John Omo met with Algeria’s Minister of Post and
Telecommunications, Hon. Sid Ali Zerrouki, to discuss coordination and
readiness ahead of the Summit, which is scheduled to take place from March 28
to 30, 2026.
The
Africa Digital Transformation Summit 2026 is being positioned as a pan-African
delivery platform for ATU Member States and partners to move beyond dialogue
toward actionable outcomes. The Summit will focus on aligning stakeholders
around practical commitments that can be implemented at the national level and
monitored beyond the event.
Key
areas of engagement are expected to include investment mobilisation, digital
skills development, regulatory alignment, and the expansion of inclusive
connectivity across the continent. Through this approach, the Summit aims to
support Africa’s broader digital transformation agenda with measurable and
sustainable impact.
ATU
indicated that additional details regarding the programme and participation
will be communicated in due course.
