GGPEN,
in partnership with GEDAE – Geodata Center, has initiated discussions with the
Angolan Investment Bank (BAI) on a potential strategic partnership focused on
geo-intelligence, advanced connectivity, and decision-support systems. The
negotiations commenced on Monday, January 19, as part of a broader national
partnership framework.
The
meeting addressed key challenges facing the banking sector, particularly in the
areas of technological modernisation, operational efficiency, and the
integration of artificial intelligence. Discussions positioned GEDAE as a
strategic partner capable of delivering value through innovative solutions,
intelligent data utilisation, and predictive analytics to support informed
decision-making.
A
central focus of the engagement was the ANGEO-1 Project, Angola’s Earth
observation satellite, which was highlighted as a critical asset for the
proposed partnership. The project was recognised for its potential to enhance
territorial intelligence, strategic analysis, and the optimisation of banking
operations through advanced geospatial insights.
The
BAI delegation was led by the Executive Director for Telecommunications and
Marketing, Simão Fonseca, accompanied by his Deputy, Luís Martins. The GGPEN
delegation was led by Vangiliya Filipe, Deputy Director for the Technical and
Scientific Area, representing the Director General of GGPEN and the Executive
Committee of GEDAE.
The
engagement marks a significant step toward the development of smart, connected,
and data-driven banking in Angola, leveraging geo-intelligence and
space-enabled technologies to support the future of the financial sector.
