Vodacom
Group Chief External Affairs Officer, Ayman Essam has recently visited
Tanzania, one of the company’s core markets, noting the importance of policy
alignment, strong execution, and close engagement with local stakeholders in
driving sustainable growth.
During
the visit, Mr. Essam engaged with senior government and diplomatic leaders,
including Prof. Kitila Alexander Mkumbo, Minister of Planning and Investment;
Mr. Emmanuel M. Tutuba, Governor of the Bank of Tanzania; Hon. Angellah
Kairuki, Minister of Communications and ICT; Mr. Andrew Lentz, American Chargé
d'affaires in Tanzania; and Ms. Marianne Young, British High Commissioner.
Discussions focused on how policy, technology, and investment can collaborate
to foster inclusive and sustainable development.
He also
participated in an evening reception with the business community and Vodacom
Tanzania stakeholders, where practical challenges and priorities were
highlighted, reinforcing the need for coordinated action and strategic
planning.
During
site visits to the Dodoma Data Center and Vodacom Tanzania branches, the Group
Chief External Affairs Officer observed firsthand the focus and commitment of
local teams. Under the leadership of Philip Besiimire, Vodacom Tanzania
continues to deliver consistently in a highly competitive market.
As
Tanzania prepares to host AFCON 2027, such discipline and operational
consistency are expected to play a crucial role in supporting the country’s
readiness for large-scale events.
