The
Orange Sierra Leone Foundation has successfully launched its Back-to-School
Project in Kingtom, Freetown, reinforcing its commitment to promoting equitable
access to education for children across the country.
The
launch event was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra
Leone, Madam Aïcha Touré, and the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary
Education, Mr. Conrad Sackey, highlighting the role of public-private
collaboration in addressing educational challenges and supporting national
development priorities.

As
part of the initiative, children in the Kingtom community received essential
school supplies, including exercise books, backpacks, pens, pencils, and
mathematical sets. For many families, the provision of these materials helps
reduce financial barriers that can hinder school attendance and participation.
The
Kingtom launch represents the first phase of a nationwide programme aimed at
supporting 2,000 vulnerable children. Through this initial phase, 150 pupils
have already benefited from the distribution of learning materials, marking the
start of a broader outreach effort by the Foundation.

The
project is being implemented in partnership with Concern for Vulnerable Women
and Children, working closely with local communities to ensure that support
reaches pupils most in need. Through this collaboration, the Orange Sierra
Leone Foundation continues to advance initiatives designed to improve access to
education and contribute to building brighter futures for children across
Sierra Leone.
