Discussions on building trust in education technology took centre stage at the EdTech Forum in Rwanda, which brought together policymakers and industry experts to examine how digital solutions can transform the country’s education sector.

The forum featured the Minister of State at the Ministry of Education, Claudette Irere, who highlighted Rwanda’s progress over the past five years in transitioning from manual processes to data-driven digital systems. She noted that the adoption of digital platforms has significantly reduced administrative burdens, enhanced decision-making, and expanded connectivity across the education ecosystem.

The Minister stressed the importance of establishing an EdTech trust seal to ensure that technology solutions deployed in the sector are scalable, sustainable, and well integrated into national systems. According to her, Rwanda’s broader economic success depends on the alignment of policy direction, technological innovation, and operational capacity.

A panel of experts at the forum further explored the theme, “Aligning EdTech with National Digital Transformation,” emphasising the need for strong multi-stakeholder coordination. Panelists underscored the importance of bridging gaps between infrastructure development, innovation, and end users to maximise the impact of digital education tools.

The discussions also highlighted the need for EdTech solutions to align closely with the national curriculum through structured sector strategies, ensuring that technologies address real challenges within the education system and contribute to sustainable growth.

The EdTech Forum forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trust, standards, and collaboration in Rwanda’s digital transformation agenda, particularly within the education sector.
