The
Digital Business Summit has officially opened in Rwanda, bringing together
industry leaders, innovators, and partners to advance inclusive digital
transformation and strengthen the country’s digital economy.
The
opening session featured remarks from the Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda
ICT Chamber, Alex Ntale, who noted the evolving role of information and
communication technology as a cross-cutting driver of growth across all sectors
of the economy. He stated that ICT is no longer a standalone industry but a
foundational enabler of transformation in areas ranging from finance and trade
to public services. As Rwanda’s digital ecosystem continues to expand, he
emphasised the importance of mechanisms such as digital trust seals to ensure
credibility, transparency, and trust among businesses operating in the digital
space.

Contributing
to the discussion, Robert Ford Nkusi, Country Director of Yellow Card and
President of the Rwanda Standards and Trust Quality Board, highlighted the role
of trust seals as certification tools that guarantee compliance with
established standards. He explained that such seals help strengthen customer
confidence and enable businesses to build reliable, long-term relationships in
increasingly competitive digital markets.
Mporanzi
Samuel, Quality Management and Accreditation Analyst at the Rwanda Standards
Board, reinforced the importance of standards in driving sustainable
innovation. He cautioned that innovation without standards cannot scale
effectively, stressing that digital trust seals are internationally recognised
instruments that help reduce risk, enhance competitiveness, and improve market
access for businesses.

The
summit is expected to continue with further discussions and engagements aimed
at promoting trust-based digital growth and supporting Rwanda’s vision of a
resilient and inclusive digital economy.
