The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) has engaged
the Government of Liberia on advancing its national digital agenda following a
reported increase of more than 11 percent in internet adoption over the past
year, signaling growing digital momentum in the West African country.
The engagement took place at the DCO headquarters in
Riyadh during a meeting between the organization’s Founding Secretary-General,
Deemah AlYahya, and Liberia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E.
Amara Soko Sackor. Discussions centered on Liberia’s newly developed digital
agenda, which outlines priorities aimed at expanding nationwide connectivity,
strengthening digital skills, and improving access to digital services.

According to DCO, Liberia’s digital
economy remains at an early stage, but recent progress points to a clear
commitment by the country to accelerate its digital transformation. The talks
explored opportunities for deeper collaboration, including knowledge exchange
and the development of targeted thematic initiatives to support Liberia’s
digital ambitions.
AlYahya emphasized the importance of
sustained cooperation as countries across the Global South intensify efforts to
build inclusive and resilient digital economies. She noted that DCO remains
committed to supporting member states and partners in translating digital
strategies into measurable and lasting impact.
The
meeting forms part of DCO’s broader engagement with countries seeking to
leverage digital technologies as drivers of economic growth, social inclusion,
and sustainable development.
