The
Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation has formally handed over
five laptops to the Kelvin Doe Foundation in support of students who emerged
winners of the recent Student Robotics Tournament.
The
presentation was made by the Deputy Minister of Communication, Technology and
Innovation, Mr. Paul Hinga Tucker, on behalf of the Ministry, during a brief
ceremony held at the Ministry’s Conference Room on the 8th Floor of the Youyi
Building in Freetown.
The
laptops were awarded to a team of five students who won the Student Robotics
Tournament organized by the Kelvin Doe Foundation. The competition was held at
Prince of Wales School in Kingtom, the alma mater of Kelvin Doe, and brought
together young innovators to demonstrate their skills in robotics, teamwork and
problem-solving.
The
handover reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to promoting practical
science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, as well as
encouraging youth-led innovation in Sierra Leone. By supporting initiatives
that provide hands-on learning opportunities, the Ministry aims to help nurture
the next generation of technology leaders and problem-solvers.
The
Kelvin Doe Foundation has been actively engaged in empowering young people
through technology and innovation, and the support from the Ministry is
expected to further motivate students to pursue creative and technical
solutions to real-world challenges.
