Egypt’s
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, has
inspected the pavilions of PioPEx26, a philatelic exhibition held as part of
activities marking Egypt Post Day, and inaugurated a commemorative postage
stamp to mark 160 years since the issuance of Egypt’s first postage stamp.
PioPEx26
is being organized by the Egyptian Pioneers Club for Philately at the El
Hanager Arts Center within the Cairo Opera House complex. The exhibition has
drawn wide participation from stamp collectors and exhibitors from Egypt and
several Arab countries, reflecting the regional significance of the event.

The
inspection tour was attended by Deputy Chairman of Egypt Post’s Board of
Directors for Regional Affairs, Sayed Toman; Chairman of the Egyptian Pioneers
Club for Philately, Nael Hamdy; members of the club; and representatives of
Arab philatelic associations.
During
the tour, the minister reviewed rare stamp collections and competitive exhibits
featured in the exhibition’s official contests. He praised the high quality of
the displays and highlighted the role of philately in documenting national
history and preserving cultural heritage. Talaat noted that the stamps on
display provide valuable records of Egypt’s political, economic and social
evolution over the past 160 years.
The
minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s
commitment to modernising Egypt Post and enhancing its services in line with
technological developments. He stressed the importance of delivering postal and
financial services in a modern, efficient and well-governed manner, while
preserving the long-standing legacy of Egypt Post.
Mr.
Talaat said Egypt Post plans to continue expanding its postal and financial
services during the current year, while also increasing the range of government
services provided through the Digital Egypt platform via postal outlets. He
underscored the organisation’s central role in implementing national projects,
including the single services card project, which has entered a pilot phase in
Port Said Governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Supply and Internal
Trade, and the Alternative Housing Platform developed in partnership with the
Ministry of Housing.

He
further noted that Egypt Post remains one of the country’s most extensive state
institutions, operating more than 4,600 postal outlets nationwide, reinforcing
its capacity to deliver government and financial services to citizens across
all governorates.
On
the sidelines of the exhibition, the minister officially inaugurated a
commemorative postage stamp celebrating 160 years since Egypt issued its first
postage stamp, marking a milestone in the country’s postal and communications
history.
