The
Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB) of Cameroon has received two quality
of service (QoS) monitoring platforms in a formal handover ceremony held at the
Platinum Building, its headquarters in Yaoundé, marking a significant boost to
the regulator’s technical and oversight capacity.

The
ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette
Libom Li Likeng, and brought together key stakeholders, including the National
Coordinator of the Digital Transformation Acceleration Project (PATNUC),
representatives of the World Bank, senior management of the TRB, institutional
leaders and members of the media.
Speaking
at the event, TRB Director General, Professor Philémon Zoo Zame, described the
handover as a decisive step in strengthening the regulatory framework for
electronic communications in Cameroon. He noted that the new platforms would
enable the regulator to more effectively monitor the quality of services
delivered by network operators and better protect the interests of users.
The
technical characteristics and operational capabilities of the QoS monitoring
platforms were presented by PATNUC’s National Coordinator, Dr. Fuaye Kenji
Winfred Mfuh, who outlined how the equipment would support data-driven
regulation and improve transparency in the assessment of network performance.
In
her address, Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng подчеркed that quality of service
in electronic communications is both a fundamental right for users and a
critical factor in national competitiveness. She recalled that the initiative
aligns with Cameroon’s broader digital transformation agenda, identified as a
key development priority by President Paul Biya, and aimed at building a
resilient and inclusive digital economy.

PATNUC,
launched in March 2023 with support from the World Bank, seeks to accelerate
Cameroon’s digital transition through investments in infrastructure, digital
inclusion, modernization of public services and the promotion of innovation.
The transfer of the QoS monitoring platforms to TRB represents a concrete
outcome of this programme, equipping the regulator with modern tools to ensure
rigorous oversight of electronic communications networks.
The
event concluded with the signing of the official handover documents,
symbolizing the commitment of all parties to collaborate in delivering
reliable, high-quality and inclusive digital services across the country.
