Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations de Côte d’Ivoire (CDC-CI) has acquired a
stake in local fintech company Green-Pay, following the signing of an
investment protocol. The transaction marks CDC-CI’s entry into the capital of
Green-Pay alongside Orange Côte d’Ivoire Participation, a subsidiary of the
Orange Group.

The
investment aligns with CDC-CI’s mandate as a public financial institution to
mobilise and channel long-term resources into innovative and high-impact
projects that support Côte d’Ivoire’s sustainable economic and social
development. Beyond the financial injection, the agreement establishes a
long-term strategic partnership aimed at supporting national technology
champions and accelerating the modernisation of the country’s financial
ecosystem.
Green-Pay
is already backed by Orange Côte d’Ivoire Participation, a major player in
telecommunications and digital services in Côte d’Ivoire and the wider
sub-region. The entry of CDC-CI strengthens the fintech’s shareholder base by
combining the support of a long-term public investor with the expertise of a
leading private-sector digital operator.
According
to CDC-CI Director Genera,l Lassina Fofana, the investment forms part of the
institution’s broader strategy to digitise aspects of its operations and
promote the adoption of innovative financial solutions. He described the
partnership as extending beyond capital investment to a shared commitment built
on trust, sound governance and a common vision for advancing financial
inclusion through innovation.

CDC-CI
said the move underscores its ambition to support the digitalisation of
financial services, which it considers a critical tool for expanding access to
secure and modern payment solutions tailored to local needs for both
individuals and businesses.
Green-Pay
Managing Director, Anouar Traboulsi welcomed CDC-CI’s entry into the company’s
capital, describing it as a strong signal of confidence and maturity for Côte
d’Ivoire’s fintech ecosystem. He said the partnership with CDC-CI and Orange
Côte d’Ivoire Participation is expected to accelerate the rollout of innovative
and inclusive digital payment solutions, benefiting users and economic
stakeholders across the country.
