BasiGo
has recorded significant progress in advancing electric public transport across
East Africa, closing the year with key operational, environmental, and
strategic milestones in Kigali and Nairobi.
The
company currently has 125 electric buses in active service across the two
cities and has transported more than 10 million passengers since the
commencement of operations. BasiGo reported that its growing fleet has
contributed to the avoidance of over 3.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions,
alongside nearly eight million electric kilometres driven. The transition to
electric mobility has also resulted in the avoidance of approximately 1.6
million litres of diesel to date.

During
the year under review, BasiGo strengthened its strategic partnerships within
the global electric mobility ecosystem. The company was appointed by CATL as an
authorised service agent in Sub-Saharan Africa, reinforcing its technical and
operational capacity in battery systems and after-sales support. It also
entered into a partnership with King Long to deploy a next-generation electric
city bus tailored for the Kenyan market.
BasiGo
further supported landmark sustainability initiatives, including powering
transportation for the TED Countdown Summit, which marked the first TED event
where nearly all participant transport was delivered using zero-emission
vehicles. In parallel, the company continued to expand its regional charging
infrastructure to support the scaling of electric bus operations.

Reflecting
on the year’s achievements, BasiGo expressed appreciation to its partners,
investors, and staff for their continued support and contribution to the
company’s growth and mission. Looking ahead to 2026, the company reaffirmed its
commitment to accelerating the adoption of electric mobility solutions and
shaping the future of sustainable public transport across Africa.
