Ethiopost
has officially launched two major digital solutions—the Virtual Post Box and
the PostGebeya e-commerce platform—marking a significant step in the
organization’s transition into the digital era.
The
inauguration ceremony was held at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel and was attended
by senior government and institutional leaders. The event was officially
inaugurated by H.E. Ato Melaku Alebel, Minister of Industry, alongside Ato
Dagmawi Hailiye, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopost.

The
newly introduced Virtual Post Box is designed to modernize postal services by
enabling users to access postal services digitally, while the PostGebeya
platform provides an integrated e-commerce marketplace aimed at supporting
businesses, artisans, and entrepreneurs. Together, the two platforms are
expected to enhance service efficiency, improve accessibility, and strengthen
Ethiopost’s role in the digital economy.
According
to Ethiopost, the digital initiatives align with the Digital Ethiopia 2025
national strategy, which seeks to accelerate the country’s digital
transformation across key sectors. By combining postal digitization with a
dedicated e-commerce marketplace, the platforms are intended to support
national economic growth and foster innovation.

The
PostGebeya marketplace is also expected to expand cross-border market access by
enabling Ethiopian businesses to reach international customers through
Ethiopost’s integrated logistics network, thereby supporting trade and
promoting locally produced goods beyond national borders.
Ethiopost
described the launch as a milestone in its modernization journey, signaling a
broader commitment to leveraging technology to deliver efficient, inclusive,
and future-ready postal and logistics services across Ethiopia.
