The
newly appointed CEO of South Sudan’s National Communication Authority, Rizig
Dominic Samuel has chaired his first virtual second Board Meeting of the East
Africa Communications Organization (EACO) in his capacity as Chairman, marking
an important milestone in his regional leadership role.
The
meeting brought together the EACO Executive Director, Ms. Caroline Koech,
members of the Secretariat, and representatives from seven member states:
Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
Discussions focused on shared priorities aimed at strengthening cooperation and
advancing harmonised communication systems across the region.

Key
issues reviewed during the meeting included efforts to strengthen EACO’s
institutional capacity, enhance its visibility at regional and global levels,
and improve support for the postal sector. Participants underscored the
importance of these priorities in promoting modern, efficient and integrated
communications services within East Africa.
The
Board meeting also highlighted the value of sustained collaboration among
member states, particularly in creating opportunities to share experiences,
adopt emerging technologies and develop systems that improve connectivity and
service delivery for citizens across the region.
With
renewed momentum under its current leadership, EACO’s ongoing work is expected
to contribute to deeper regional integration and improved communications
outcomes, reinforcing the benefits of active and intentional cooperation among
member states.
