University of Informatics (EUI), in collaboration with Teradata Egypt, has
graduated the first cohort of its specialised training programme focused on big
data analytics and artificial intelligence, marking a milestone in
industry–academia collaboration to build advanced digital skills.
The
graduation ceremony was attended by the Vice Minister of Communications and
Information Technology for Infrastructure and Digital Transformation and Vice
Chairman of EUI’s Board of Trustees, Raafat Hendy, who presented certificates
to graduates after the successful completion of practical training and the
presentation of applied projects in AI and data analytics.

In
his remarks, Hendy underscored EUI’s commitment to equipping students and
graduates with practical, industry-relevant skills through partnerships with
leading global and local technology companies. He noted that such programmes
enhance graduates’ competitiveness in local and regional labour markets and
support Egypt’s Digital Transformation Strategy being implemented in
partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
He
explained that the programme, delivered in collaboration with Teradata,
provided participants with full professional exposure within the company and
hands-on involvement in real government-focused projects that support the
transition to a digital economy. Trainees worked on two advanced projects based
on artificial intelligence and data science. The first focused on developing an
AI-based system to classify goods and generate accurate descriptions in line
with the Global Product Classification framework using purchase invoice data
that does not conform to international standards.
Hendy
added that the system enables the transformation of unstructured textual data
into analysable formats, supporting accurate reporting, advanced analytics,
regulatory compliance, transparency and data-driven decision-making. The second
project analysed the performance of companies operating in the local market and
identified potential risks affecting future operations. An AI-driven tool was
developed to analyse financial data patterns of active and inactive companies,
enabling early detection of operational slowdowns and sector-wide risks that
may require timely intervention.
Acting
President of EUI, Ahmed Hamad, said the Memorandum of Understanding with
Teradata Egypt aims to establish a comprehensive training curriculum in
artificial intelligence and data science with a strong emphasis on practical
and industrial experience. He noted that the partnership also grants EUI
faculty members and students access to Teradata’s global online learning
platform, offering specialised educational resources and practical application
examples.

Hamad
stated that the collaboration supports national efforts to build a skilled
digital workforce capable of meeting the demands of digital transformation and
artificial intelligence initiatives in Egypt and across the Middle East. He
also highlighted the student teams involved in the projects, noting that the
goods classification project was developed by Omar Samir and Sajid Samer under
the supervision of Teradata’s Director of Data, Analytics and AI, Ahmad
Al-Kashef, while the company performance analysis project was developed by
Mahmoud Khaled and Noor Tamer under the supervision of Sandra Mohareb.
Speaking
on behalf of Teradata, Regional Director for Africa Khalid Hammouda said the
training programme reflects strong collaboration between Teradata and the
Egyptian government through MCIT. He noted that participants were directly
involved in ongoing projects, giving them exposure to cutting-edge technologies
and real-world applications in AI and big data analytics, in line with both
local and international labour market requirements.
The
ceremony was attended by senior officials from EUI and MCIT, including
Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation Mahmoud Badawi, Dean of the
Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences Hoda Mokhtar, and representatives
from Teradata Egypt, faculty members and programme partners.
