The
Director General of the Regional African Satellite Communication Organization
(RASCOM), Timothy Ashong, has facilitated a training workshop for the
Satellite Solutions team at Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL), aimed at
strengthening collaboration and enhancing technical understanding of satellite
communications.

The
workshop provided an overview of RASCOM’s mandate, operations, and role in
advancing satellite connectivity across Africa. Participants were introduced to
the organisation’s satellite infrastructure, service offerings, and strategic
objectives in supporting reliable and inclusive communications on the
continent.
In
his remarks, Mr. Ashong shared insights into the evolving landscape of Africa’s
satellite communications sector, highlighting emerging opportunities,
challenges, and the importance of regional cooperation. He also outlined areas
through which RASCOM and CAMTEL can deepen their partnership, particularly in
expanding satellite-based services to support connectivity, digital inclusion,
and national development priorities in Cameroon.

The
engagement forms part of RASCOM’s broader efforts to build strong partnerships
with national telecommunications operators and enhance local capacity to
effectively deploy and manage satellite solutions across Africa.
