The
Ministry of Communications and Technology (MoCT) of the Federal Government of
Somalia has held a consultative meeting with representatives of innovation hubs
as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the country’s
national innovation agenda.
The
discussions focused on establishing a National Innovation Hubs Registry to
improve coordination and visibility across the ecosystem, alongside initiatives
to enhance capacity building and skills development. Participants also noted
the importance of fostering partnerships rather than overregulation, and
sustaining continuous dialogue to ensure innovation hubs actively contribute to
policy formulation and implementation.
The
engagement underscored the Ministry’s commitment to building a coordinated and
inclusive innovation ecosystem that supports Somalia’s digital transformation
objectives. It also highlighted the role of innovation hubs as critical
enablers of entrepreneurship, talent development, and technology-driven growth
within the national digital economy.
