Ghana’s
High Commissioner to Canada, H.E. Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, has
highlighted Ghana’s strategic position as a preferred investment destination
during the Africa Agriculture, Trade and Investment Summit held in Toronto,
Canada.
The
summit took place at Humber College’s Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation
and brought together policymakers, business leaders, investors, and development
partners to explore opportunities for trade, agriculture, and investment
between Africa and Canada.

In
her address, Professor Edu-Buandoh presented Ghana as a stable and
investor-friendly gateway to Africa and underscored the country’s role as host
of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). She
emphasized the central role of agriculture in Ghana’s economic transformation
agenda, particularly in driving industrialisation, export-led growth, and job
creation.
The
High Commissioner outlined key investment opportunities for Canadian and
Ghanaian-Canadian investors, including agricultural mechanisation,
agro-processing and value addition, climate-smart and digital agriculture,
renewable energy solutions for agribusiness, and skills development
partnerships. She noted that these areas align with Ghana’s development
priorities and offer strong prospects for mutually beneficial collaboration.

She
reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to maintaining a secure, predictable, and
transparent investment climate, and encouraged Canadian partners to deepen
engagement through co-investment, local value addition, skills transfer, and
employment creation.
Professor
Edu-Buandoh concluded by calling on investors and stakeholders to actively
engage with Ghana, positioning the country as a platform for shared prosperity
and sustainable development between Africa and Canada.
