The
African Union Commission, in partnership with the Government of Algeria, has
distributed grants totaling USD 100,000 to support 10 startups that
participated in the African Youth Startup Programme during the Intra-African
Trade Fair.
The
grants were awarded at the African Startup Conference in recognition of the
startups’ innovation and their potential contribution to the growth of Africa’s
digital economy. The funding is intended to support early-stage enterprises as
they scale their solutions and strengthen their participation in regional and
continental markets.

The
initiative forms part of a broader strategic partnership between the African
Union Commission and the Government of Algeria aimed at promoting
entrepreneurship, innovation, and youth-led enterprise development across the
continent. By providing structured financial support, the programme seeks to
address common barriers faced by young founders, particularly access to
early-stage capital.

The
African Union Commission noted that the grant scheme reflects a growing
commitment to building an enabling ecosystem for startups within the AU
framework, leveraging partnerships to create sustainable financing pathways for
emerging businesses. The support is expected to contribute to job creation,
innovation, and the advancement of Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
