The
Guinean postal sector has inaugurated a new Guinean Post Office branch in Kipé,
underscoring the government’s broader strategy to reposition and revitalize
public postal services.
The
inauguration ceremony brought together senior government officials,
institutional leaders, and development partners. Among those present were
Maïmouna Yombouno, Vice-President of the National Transition Council (NTC); Dr.
Youssouf Boundou Sylla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Poste
Guinéenne S.A.; Abdelatif Guia, Ambassador of Algeria to Guinea; Wang Rui
Arnaud, General Manager of Huawei; as well as executives from the Ministry of
Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy (MPTEN), alongside technical
and financial partners.

Officials
described the Kipé branch as more than a conventional postal office,
positioning it as a symbol of a renewed public service model focused on
economic inclusion, accessibility, and proximity to citizens. The facility is
intended to support improved service delivery while contributing to local
economic activity.
Addressing
participants at the ceremony, it was emphasized that under the leadership of
President General Mamadi Doumbouya, the Guinean postal sector has transitioned
from years of stagnation to become a contributor to measurable growth. This
transformation has reportedly resulted in significant improvements in service
quality, rising from about 25 percent to over 80 percent, alongside Guinea’s
return to international postal governance through its election to the Operating
Board of the Universal Postal Union.

The
inauguration of the Kipé branch forms part of a wider modernization programme
that includes infrastructure upgrades and the establishment of strategic relay
points across Guinea’s 33 prefectures. Through these efforts, La Poste
Guinéenne aims to reposition itself as a modern, efficient, and forward-looking
institution aligned with national development objectives.
