Kenya’s
Special Envoy for Climate Change, Ambassador Ali Mohamed, has held high-level
discussions with the Japan International Cooperation Agency on strengthening
collaboration to advance Africa’s green industrialisation ambitions.
The
talks were held with JICA’s Senior Vice President for Africa, Ando Naoki, and
focused on delivering the objectives of the Africa Green Industrialization
Initiative through the Africa Green Growth Corridor Development framework.

According
to the Office of the Special Envoy for Climate Change, the discussions centred
on strategies to translate Africa’s vast renewable energy potential and
critical mineral resources into competitive, value-added green industries.
Emphasis was placed on the development of green Special Economic Zones,
integrated logistics corridors, clean energy systems, and climate-smart
manufacturing as key enablers of sustainable industrial growth.
The
engagement highlighted the importance of a regional and interconnected approach
that links energy, industry, and trade to support climate-resilient development
across the continent. Both sides underscored the need for strong international
partnerships to help convert Africa’s green growth potential into bankable
projects with measurable economic and environmental impact.

The
dialogue reinforced a shared commitment between Kenya and JICA to support
Africa’s transition from a resource-based economy to a climate-resilient,
value-added industrial future.
