Guinea
has taken a major step toward structured artificial intelligence governance
following the validation of its Artificial Intelligence Landscape Assessment
(AILA) diagnostic report and national AI roadmap.
The
validation workshop was held by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and
Digital Economy, through the National Directorate of Information Technologies
and Digital Economy, in collaboration with the United Nations Development
Programme. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from Guinea’s digital
ecosystem, alongside technical and financial partners.

With
this milestone, Guinea becomes the first French-speaking country to adopt the
AILA methodology, marking a significant moment in the development of a national
framework for artificial intelligence governance.
The
workshop was chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Ministry, Nfaly Sylla, who
underscored that Guinea is well positioned on the continental scale due to its
demographic advantage, a growing technological ecosystem, and a public
administration committed to digital transformation. He reaffirmed the
government’s determination to make artificial intelligence a strategic driver
for development, modernization of public services, and the strengthening of
digital sovereignty in line with national priorities.

At
the conclusion of the session, the final AILA diagnostic report and a ten-year
national artificial intelligence roadmap covering the period 2026 to 2035 were
officially handed over. The roadmap outlines a phased approach, beginning with
the establishment of foundational frameworks, followed by the integration of
artificial intelligence into public services, and ultimately positioning Guinea
as a regional leader in artificial intelligence.
The
validation of the report and roadmap marks the starting point for concrete
implementation actions aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence in support
of Guinea’s long-term development objectives.
