Ethiopost
has signed a cooperation agreement with EthSwitch Share Company to collaborate
on strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing digital financial services in
Ethiopia. The agreement was formalized during an official signing ceremony
attended by senior executives from both institutions.
Under
the partnership, Ethiopost and EthSwitch will jointly develop an Agent Network
Management Application designed to support the expansion and efficiency of
agency-based services. The initiative is expected to play a key role in
strengthening online payment systems and improving the delivery of agency
banking services nationwide.
Speaking
at the ceremony, Ethiopost Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dagmawi Hailiye, said
the agreement would make a significant contribution to the organization’s
three-year strategic plan. He expressed confidence that the project would soon
progress into the implementation phase, delivering tangible value to
Ethiopost’s operations and service delivery.

EthSwitch
Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yilebes Addis, welcomed the partnership,
describing it as a timely collaboration that would reinforce the country’s
digital payments ecosystem. He noted that the joint effort would enhance
interoperability and support the growth of secure and efficient online payment
and agency banking services.
As
part of the agreement, a Functional Specification Document was also signed to
guide the technical and operational implementation of the project. The document
was endorsed by Ethiopost’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ms. Tigist Bekele, and
EthSwitch’s Chief Portfolio Officer, Mr. Abeneazer Lakew.
Both
institutions expressed appreciation to the teams and individuals whose efforts
contributed to the successful conclusion of the agreement, reaffirming their
shared commitment to advancing digital financial infrastructure in Ethiopia.
