The
Marondera Female Open Correctional Institution in Zimbabwe has inaugurated a
Digital and Vocational Training Centre aimed at equipping inmates and the
surrounding community with essential digital skills. The initiative seeks to
bridge the digital skills gap and promote lifelong learning opportunities for
beneficiaries.
The
project, supported by the Postal & Telecommunications Regulatory Authority
of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) and the Ministry of Information Communication Technology,
Postal and Courier Services, features a fully equipped computer laboratory and
robust connectivity. The centre is designed to enhance digital inclusion,
providing critical training that prepares participants for active engagement in
today’s technology-driven economy.
The
initiative reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that digital skills and
opportunities reach all segments of society, leaving no individual or community
behind.
