The
Information and Decision Support Center at the Council of Ministers has signed
a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Space Agency to enhance joint efforts
in leveraging space science and technology for national development. The
signing took place at the Center’s headquarters in the New Capital, attended by
Dr. Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Center,
and Dr. Maged Ismail, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, alongside senior
leaders from both institutions.

Dr.
El-Gohary emphasized that space technology is a vital tool for supporting
decision-making, managing resources efficiently, and addressing development and
environmental challenges, from urban planning to water and agricultural
management, crisis response, and other sectors impacting the security and
well-being of Egyptian citizens.
He
described the agreement as the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership
aimed at producing tangible, implementable projects and maximizing the use of
space data for research, capacity building, and documentation of satellite
imagery and maps.
Dr.
Ismail highlighted the importance of integrating the Center’s analytical
capabilities with the Agency’s advanced space technology to support national
development goals. He noted the Egyptian government’s commitment to localizing
space technologies and enhancing the country’s capacity to implement projects
that leverage space science research.

The
collaboration also aims to expand Egypt’s cooperation with African partners in
the use of space technology to promote sustainable development, positioning
Egypt as a hub for the African space sector.
