The
Sahel Women Digital Week 2025 has officially been inaugurated with a ceremony
highlighting the digital and social empowerment of women and girls in the Sahel
region. The event, held under the high patronage of the Minister of
Communication and New Information and Communication Technologies, was attended
by the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary General and other dignitaries.

The
initiative also benefits from the support of the United Nations System in
Niger, represented by Resident Representative Ms. Mama Keita, underscoring the
commitment of UN partners to advancing digital inclusion, women’s leadership,
and equal opportunities. The opening ceremony gathered representatives from
women’s organizations, public institutions, technical partners, and digital
sector stakeholders, alongside a dynamic participation of young women eager to
explore careers in digital professions.
The
first day featured five high-level panels addressing diverse themes, providing
participants with insights from experts and fostering engaging discussions.
Over the coming days, attendees will take part in practical and immersive
training sessions covering artificial intelligence, digital marketing, web
development, and financial inclusion through digital services.

Sahel
Women Digital Week 2025 aims to equip women and girls with essential skills to
enhance employability, autonomy, and leadership within the digital ecosystem,
marking the start of a collaborative and forward-looking regional initiative.
