The
Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen
Bogdan-Martin, has underscored the importance of collective action in driving
meaningful digital development, following the WSIS+20 edition of the
Digital@UNGA event held in New York.
Speaking
after the gathering, Bogdan-Martin described the event as a strong conclusion
to the year, bringing together committed partners working to advance positive
digital transformation globally. She noted that discussions at the forum
focused on what she termed the “three I’s” of digital development:
intelligence, investment, and inclusion.

According
to the ITU Secretary-General, sustainable digital development impact can only
be achieved when stakeholders act together through a shared, collaborative
approach. She emphasized that cooperation across governments, the private
sector, civil society, and international organizations remains central to
translating digital potential into real development outcomes.
Looking
ahead, Bogdan-Martin said the next decade of the World Summit on the
Information Society will depend on the strength of this global,
multi-stakeholder community working collectively to build a human-centred,
development-oriented intelligent society that serves people and the planet.
